When scanning helps
Scanning can document external shape, support mock-ups and provide input for further modeling. A digital surface copy is not the same as a finished engineering CAD model.
Preparing the object
Provide overall dimensions, material, surface condition and accessibility from different sides. Shiny, transparent or dark surfaces, deep cavities and enclosed areas can complicate capture. Any surface preparation is agreed with the owner.
Define the deliverable
Agree on format, scale, surface coverage and reference dimensions. Specify whether mesh cleanup, hole closing or reconstruction is needed. Hidden internal features cannot be reliably recovered from an external scan alone.
Price and sample handover
Pricing follows a review of the object and data-processing needs. Arrange the location, handover and return of the sample separately. Accuracy and timing depend on the task and are confirmed before work starts.

Not always. Mesh repair or CAD reconstruction with dimension checks may be required.
Can I send photos for an estimate?
Yes, with dimensions and the purpose of the work. Photos help assess the task but do not replace measuring the object.
